Creating High-Quality Ag Carbon Credits

Agoro Carbon is an alliance of farmers, ranchers, agronomists, and businesses that believe that when producers are rewarded for carbon sequestration, we all benefit. We strive to supply the highest-quality agricultural carbon credits in the marketplace, by being the most trusted and hands-on carbon-cropping advisor to the farmers who join our alliance, throughout the lifecycle of the carbon-credit generation process. We partner with the most respected carbon registries in the industry to ensure every credit sold has been thoroughly measured, vetted, and monitored for permanence, while also ensuring every farmer or rancher we work with is the prime benefactor of soil organic carbon sequestration. While regenerative farming and soil organic carbon are not new concepts within the agricultural sector, they are complex processes that require significant agronomic expertise.

Helping Businesses Reach Climate Goals

HOW IT WORKS

Farmers & Ranchers Join

Growers sign up, and begin registry-approved practice changes to store carbon in the soil.

Agoro Carbon supports farmers and rancher through every step of the process from day 1 through year 10, building a new revenue stream for their operation while improving soil health.

Soil Organic Carbon Is Verified

Agoro Carbon works with third-party soil samplers and Verra, the highest-quality carbon-verification platform in the world, to ensure top-quality carbon credits are created.

Agoro Carbon's science team works to ensure that our soil-carbon quantification and calculations are scientifically robust, accurate, and measurable.

Businesses Purchase Carbon Credits

Once our carbon credits are rigorously tested, verified, and approved, we connect these credits with those businesses who want to address and meet their sustainability targets.

We work to make agriculture a leader in addressing our shared climate challenge, while enabling businesses to meet their goals in a positive, forward-thinking manner.

Our Trusted, Transparent, & Verified Carbon Credit Process

Frequently Asked Questions.

Both. Agoro Carbon Alliance supports agricultural practices transitions that reduce emissions as well as avoiding emissions through soil organic-carbon sequestration. Most of our current portfolio is avoidance based.

All agricultural projects that sequester soil organic carbon bear the risk that CO2 [SUPERSCRIPT THE 2] can be emitted back into the atmosphere if practices are reversed. Based on Verra’s requirements for all Agricultural Land Management (ALM) practices, a percentage of the credits (~20%) are withheld in a buffer account and retired in case of any reversals. Agoro Carbon monitors all practices and potential reversals on an annual basis. If reversals are identified, the standard is notified.

Agoro Carbon is a farmer-and rancher-centric company, and we align our success directly with their success. We support our farmers’ and ranchers’ transition to regenerative practices every step of the way. We start this journey by offering flexible payment terms to farmers and ranchers who share in the risk associated with carbon farming.  As such, it is in all parties’ interest to ensure that practices are implemented correctly. We then work hand-in-hand with our growers through their transition journey, providing dedicated agronomic support and advice, exclusive digital tools, and access to our alliance of partners to ensure we are doing all we can to set them up for success. Throughout the life of the contract, Agoro Carbon and its partners monitor on-site operations, practices, and data for practice-implementation verification and progress. If at any point there is question of whether carbon sequestration is being maximized, our Grower Success Team will work to make sure the highest quality of credits are being generated.

Soil, water, social, financial, and biodiversity benefits. There is ample research showing that the regenerative practices supported by Agoro Carbon can lead to better water-use efficiency, reduced soil erosion, greater biodiversity, and increased crop resilience to extreme weather events. Also, the regenerative practices in the long term will lead to increased soil productivity, thus ensuring additional income for growers. Agoro Carbon is currently developing methodologies that would allow us to quantify and/or certify those additional ecosystem benefits.

Agoro Carbon is currently focused on the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VERRA) as one of the most developed and stringent schemes for agricultural carbon projects. The primary methodology applied to our projects is VM0042 (Methodology for Improved Agricultural Land Management).
