What does the name Agoro mean?

What is an Agoro? You caught us Agoro is in fact a made-up name. A made-up name that was carefully curated based on established terms that resonate with the Agoro Carbon Alliance mission:

To accelerate the global transition to climate-positive agriculture practices. Agoro Carbon’s mission is to drive the global adoption of regenerative agriculture practices through high-quality, science-based carbon solutions that improve soil health and farmer prosperity, while providing businesses an opportunity to invest in a sustainable future.

You can learn a lot about someone’s, something’s, or a brand’s origin story:

The Agoro Carbon Alliance name is inspired by the ancient Greek term “agora,” which refers to a marketplace for sharing knowledge and goods. Our name embodies our essence: to create a hub of ideas and trade within the agriculture sector. In modern-day Greece, you can visit the Ancient Agora of Athens, which was the primary meeting ground for Athenians—for business, politics, and socializing.

“Agoro” combines the prefix “Ag-,” hinting at its close relationship with agriculture, with the suffix “-oro,” meaning “gold,” symbolizing Agoro Carbon’s high value and premium quality carbon credits. “Agoro” holds a lot of meaning and intentional thought, though it means nothing without “Carbon” following it.

The name history and story of how the company name “Agoro Carbon Alliance” came to be is just the tip of our story and this company has grown since its June 2021 launch. Stay tuned for more information about Agoro Carbon and the world of ag carbon by listening to The Ag Carbon Podcast.
